The Statue of Liberty Committee (www.sealady.org) and Log House Museum invites you to participate in the most comprehensive time capsule collection event in Seattle.   This capsule will go in the ground near Alki’s Statue of Liberty in the Spring or Summer of 2009. (weather dependent) This statue is located on Alki Beach, near Alki Avenue and 61^st Ave. SW.

When: Collect or create on Thursday, November 13^th, 2008, between the hours of 12:00 am to 11:59 pm.

You have until December 31^st, 2008 to bring it to the Log House Museum.    

Why:  On November 13th, 1851, some of the founders of present day  Seattle landed at Alki Point.  Known as the Denny Party or the Alki  Landing Party, they built a small community and lived  alongside the Duwamish tribe, who were led by Chief Seattle.

 What: This time capsule will be opened in 50 years. What can be put into it that will share what was going on now?   This one day collection will attempt to capture a day NOW for the Seattlites of 2058 to discover. 

Some ideas we have heard:  WASL test,  gasoline receipt;  grocery store plastic bag;   meeting minutes;   letters forecasting what the future will hold, what it means to live here, what liberty means to you;      photographs, artwork, poetry, songs created on 11/13/08 …    there are many unexplored options.
