Gatewood Baptist Church development activity.
While we try and watch the city websites for land development information, it was through the West Seattle Blogger that we first became aware in November of the sale of the Gatewood Baptist land and planned development (http://westseattleblog.com/blog/?cat=6 ) "Church Chat". To neighbors astonishment, construction has begun, with none of the normal public information that such a project would have led people to believe should have happened. Several people have begun digging into what happened in the permit process and have sent a letter of questions to the Director of the Dept of Planning and Development, as there appear to be irregularities. Stay tuned, we will update in further bulletins. If the WSBlog continues to track this project, t may be that there is more timely information on that site (that’s the point of blogging), so you might check there for additional information.
Summer Construction on I-5 affecting West Seattle Traffic.
Stan Lock, our Neighborhood Service Center Coordinator, sends the following information:
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has planned some major work on the northbound lanes of I-5 between Spokane Street and I-90. They will be replacing some expansion joints and resurfacing the roadway and it will involve lane closures. The work is scheduled later this summer between August 10-29 but they asked that I get the word out as soon as possible. For more information, please click on to the attached link. --Stan
