Citywide Skatepark Plan approved by Park Commissioners.
At their Jan 11th meeting, the Board of Park Commissioners voted to accept the Draft Citywide Skatepark Plan as presented. There was an addition decision made about the Myrtle Reservoir proposed location along with some clarifying discussion. Susanne Friedman, the Parks staff person briefing the Board made the clarification that if Myrtle is chosen during a public process as a desired location for a skatepark, one would not be constructed at the High Point Community Center (HPCC), as the locations are very close together. The size of skatepark recommended for the HPCC is at a size that would service the district, although she said "a small district" skatepark, so my assumption is that a district size skatepark at Myrtle Reservoir would be a starting point for discussion. The next step for the Citywide Skatepark Plan is for it to go to the City Council for approval, possibly in March or April. I do not know what the public input process for the City Council will be yet.
Seattle Bicycle Master Plan Draft back in work.
After the two public meetings held in December, the Department of Transportation is incorporating comments and will publish a final draft plan for comment in February. The maps and materials shown in December can be found at http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/bikemaster.htm
Neighborhood Business District Strategy
After adoption of all the legislation related to this Strategy, the City is beginning the process of mapping neighborhoods for potential Pedestrian Zone designations and the residential-on-arterials designation (don’t know what the official buzzword is yet). They are mapping neighborhoods by districts, and the Southwest District is currently last in line, so we’ll be looking at this sometime in mid 2008.
