Disaster Preparedness Volunteer needed

In 2006, Captain Mike Fann and the Southwest Precinct Advisory Committee will focus on ensuring that West Seattle has a good plan for emergencies. Part of this effort will include creating an inventory of hazards and resources within each neighborhood as well as an outreach plan to inform and train citizens in coordination with the City of Seattle SDART program (http://www.seattle.gov/html/citizen/preparedness.htm) The first planning meeting will be Thursday, Feb 2, and will meet monthly throughout the year. If you would like to represent the Morgan Junction Community in this effort, please contact Cindi Barker at 933-6968.
 

Enhanced 911 mapping project

During the months of September and October, King County workers were surveying the Morgan Junction area to collect information for enhancements to the 911 system. All addresses in our area will now be displayed on digital maps when a call goes in. This is to assist responders in getting to the correct place, for example, if a house has a mother in law apartment, the correct entryway picture will be shown on the screen.

Also, by inputting the latitude/longitude of all address in MJ and the county, wireless and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) 911 callers can be located. More information about this project can be found at http://www.metrokc.gov/gis/Projects/index.htm

 

Monorail Station Property questions

We've been getting questions about what will happen with the properties purchased for the Morgan Junction monorail stations. We don't have the answer yet, SMP is apparently still setting their disposition process in place. MoCA has signed up to be on the notification list, so we'll pass on what we hear

Still no word from SMA about their disposition process for the properties they acquired. However, we did learn that the Morgan Junction parcel was purchased by SMA for 1.4 million dollars.
